Miss Uganda: Quiin bows out for a new Queen

Last night, a new queen was crowned at the Miss Uganda 2019 pageant. The event held at the Sheraton Kampala hotel and majorly sponsored by MTN Uganda, saw Quiin Abenakyo release the crown to Olivia Nakakande.
Nakakande who many Ugandans on social media are now fondly calling Naka, will represent the country in this year's Miss World pageant. Until Quiin Abenakyo who is also Miss World-Africa, Uganda had been grappling at this international competition. The questions on everyone's mind is if new queen Olivia will do just as amazing, right?
The 24 year old, also a business management student hails from Bombo district, and was the last to showcase of the 22 girls. There seems to be a pattern here, like last year’s queen, Quiin Abenakyo, Nakakande was last to showcase her skills. The easily intelligent beauty sailed through the questions with the judges and left the crowd mostly impressed.
Before the beaming Abenakyo handed over the crown, she had some wise words. “Remember we have a lot of tasks to complete,” she started. “And together we can change this world and make it a better place for the girl child.”
Hard not to mention would be the impressive runners up whose presence on the stage was nothing short of amazing. Elizabeth Bagaya who was the event’s 1st runners-up and Mariam Nyamatte as second 2nd runners-up outdid themselves. Sadly there could only be one winner and just the one car to give. So Nakakande was the lucky pick to drive away in the red brand new Toyota Wish, with the words Miss Uganda visibly displayed.
Besides a whole host of socialites, the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga was in attendance, as was Vanessa Ponce, the current Miss World and also Miss Mexico. Besides the drama served by Uganda tourism ambassadors, Zari and Fabiola, the serenade by Michael Ouma was to remember.
