Yesterday, Thursday the 12th day of March, Kenya, a country that borders Uganda to the east got it’s much dreaded first corona virus case. Speaking to press, Mutahi Kagwe, Kenya's health minister said the patient had been diagnosed at the government's national influenza centre laboratory after travelling home via London on March 5.

The patient, a 27-year-old Kenyan is now believed to be stable but will not be released into the public until she is well. "She cannot be released ... until she gets negative," the Minister is quoted by Aljazera. “Kenya has suspended all public gatherings, sporting events, open-air religious meetings and "all events that are of a huge public nature". While the school system will go on, the minister said that inter-school events have since been suspended.

In the meantime, Aljazera reports that the Kenyan government has traced most of the people she has been in contact with, including fellow passengers on the flight home, and a government response team will monitor their temperatures for the next two weeks.
